Sunset & Sunrise Spots
The best golden-hour viewing spots on Bantayan Island — mapped for you.
Sunset Spots
Bantayan Town Waterfront
VerifiedBantayan
The western waterfront area of Bantayan town offers sunset views across the Visayan Sea. Less dramatic than Bontay Baywalk but a good option if already exploring town.
Access: Free access along the town waterfront. Walking distance from the public market.
Bontay Baywalk & Kota Heritage Park
VerifiedMadridejos
The most celebrated sunset spot on Bantayan Island. The boardwalk extends out over the sea, offering a 180-degree unobstructed view of the horizon. No buildings, no obstructions — just the sea and the sky.
Access: Free entrance. Habal-habal from Sta. Fe (~45 min, ~₱100) or Bantayan town (~20 min). Arrive 30-45 min before sunset. Limited facilities — bring water.
Kota Beach Beachfront
VerifiedSta. Fe
The resort strip beachside bars and restaurants. While the main beach faces east, sunset colours can be spectacular looking south and north along the coastline, especially with clouds to catch the light.
Access: Walk along Sta. Fe resort strip. Open access to public beach areas.
Paradise Beach
VerifiedSta. Fe
Primarily east-facing, but the open southern aspect provides beautiful sunset views, especially during southwest monsoon months when the sun sets further south. Secluded atmosphere.
Access: Accessible from Sta. Fe resort area. Some resorts charge an entrance fee for non-guests.
Sunrise Spots
Madridejos Eastern Coastline
Madridejos
East-facing coastal barangays of Madridejos offer quiet, authentic sunrise spots away from tourist crowds. A local experience few visitors discover.
Access: Habal-habal from Madridejos town centre. Ask locals for the best coastal access points.
Sta. Fe Eastern Beach
VerifiedSta. Fe
The long eastern coastline of Sta. Fe faces toward Cebu and catches the sunrise directly. Early morning is quiet and serene — fishermen heading out, still water, and the sky turning gold and pink.
Access: Walk to the beach from any Sta. Fe resort. Best experienced 5:00-6:30 AM.
Sugar Beach at Dawn
VerifiedSta. Fe
A wide, empty beach with coconut trees — beautiful at first light before the day-trippers arrive. Great for photography with natural palm tree silhouettes.
Access: Short walk or habal-habal ride from Sta. Fe centre. Arrive before 5:30 AM.
